Celonaut, Karina Vogl, joined #TeamCelonis in July of 2016 as a Partner Manager and has progressed into the role of Vice President Partner Management – EMEA & APAC.
Karina tells us about what it’s like working at Celonis, and with her team, what her day-to-day is like, and any challenges she faces, as well as advice to women who are starting out in their careers.
Working at Celonis is a never-ending learning journey, enabling fast personal and professional growth. Being surrounded by so many smart, ambitious and passionate colleagues is really energizing and helps to overcome each challenge.
Never say “no” to a career opportunity because you think you cannot do the job. Start it and then learn how to do it. Also, take care of your network and search for mentors you can learn from and ask for advice.
A partner manager should have the strength to excite, inspire and influence others, connect with many different stakeholders and not shy away from negotiations. A partner manager must form longstanding, successful and trustful relationships internally and externally, which can weather storms along the way. And finally, a partner manager should be persistent and needs good stamina – an ecosystem is built for long-term success.
The two major challenges are limited time and diverging interests. I cannot remember a single day at Celonis when I felt bored. There is always so much to discuss, plan, improve and execute and always too little capacity to handle everything at the same time. The solution I am applying is empowering my team to take on more tasks individually and to prioritize as well as possible (not saying this always works 😉).
The second major challenge is that the interests of our partners and the interests of Celonis are not always perfectly aligned. The key is that trust and transparency are at the core of a partnership and we are always solution-and future-oriented. Like this, we can master each difficult situation.
Ambitious, cooperative, energetic.
A typical day is packed with meetings, internally and externally. These could be Quarterly Business Reviews with partners or regular check-ins. Part of the day is also one-on-one meetings with my team leads and Strategic Alliance Managers to check in on the progress in the partner pipeline, review the partner-influenced opportunities of the ongoing quarter and align on current developments with our Alliances. Thereafter could be an internal alignment with Partner Marketing, Partner Delivery, Partner Operations or the other Ecosystem groups to discuss current initiatives and projects. And if it is a good day, I can squeeze in a coffee chat with another colleague.
