At Celonis we’re helping companies change the way they work, so we can all do our part to ensure a better future for all.
Our values help us get there.
We believe customer trust is earned by creating value. So we measure our success in customer outcomes and measure innovation by the value it delivers. When our customers do better, we do better.
“The one thing with Celonis that is great is it’s not just a tool. It’s a team that is committed to our success.”
”The vision I have is that in five years’ time, nobody will need to touch our transactional systems unless Celonis suggests it.”
“Living for customer value is not just a 9:00 to 5:00 mindset — it’s an attitude. When customers need us, we are there to help them.”
“Listening is key to understanding our customers’ challenges. It’s not just about delivering what the customer is asking for, but discovering together how to deliver the best possible solution.”

In November 2019, Celonis won the German President’s Award - marking the first time in history that a company was nominated and honored in “software and algorithm-based innovation.” After a year-long rigorous and technical application process, we made it to the final round. During the nomination period, we designed our own campaign and asked every Celonaut how they would imagine a #frictionlessfuture with Celonis. They shared amazing stories, designed new apps, and thought of new visions and ideas for our contribution to society.
The night of the award show, over 100 Celonauts gathered for a viewing party in our Munich office. The founders, our project team, and a few of our first Celonauts and customers were at the live event with the German President in Berlin. The energy felt like watching a football championship and winning was a truly historic moment for Celonis. After we won, the jury praised our commitment and innovative spirit of our team.
Now, Celonis is showcased in a special exhibition at the German Museum of Technology in Munich. When asked what the founders wanted to do with the award money, the answer was simple: give back to society, acknowledge and appreciate their own roots, and create future value. So, we launched the global Celonis Aspire program to support equal access to education. Learn more
We believe accountability builds trust. We make data-driven decisions and take responsibility for our stakeholders with a founder’s mentality. All while embracing a spirit of resourcefulness and problem-solving.
“To me, it’s about collective ownership: when you push yourself to make that deck just a little bit better, when someone else trades ideas to make your feature just a little bit stronger, when you work with someone else to make sure their deal closes, or when you help a customer through a tricky process so they feel comfortable.”
“When I went to Japan to build out our new office, I was involved in everything from hiring to winning our first customer. Having the opportunity to drive something of this scale and own it was really exciting.”
“Ownership is a team sport. You can only own it if you let other people own it too. I am so happy this is one of our core values, as it defines not just the way we work together but also how we continue to grow as a team and as a company.”
Every Celonaut literally owns it, because we’re all partial owners in the company.
It all started with an idea. Three university students were asked to fix an IT service problem for a Bavarian broadcasting company. After considering traditional methods of process improvement, they thought, “There has to be a better way.” And so, Celonis was born…
Our founders wanted some of the world's biggest companies to support Celonis when we were just a lean start up, so they decided to take an innovative approach. So they sent 1,500 handwritten letters to executives of German businesses, and dozens of them turned into solid sales leads.
We believe in doing business that is good for people and the planet. We put our technology into the hands of those who will use it for good - through our Academy and nonprofit programs. We help our customers make their processes more sustainable and less wasteful. We’re committed to running our company in an environmentally sustainable way. Because, we are doing our part to ensure a better future for all.
“Process Mining has never just been a technology to me but a way of thinking. I am convinced this mindset will bring sustainable ideas to life – for our customers, society, the environment and us, the Celonis team.”
“One of our customers needed to track their carbon footprint in their supply chain but couldn’t because of lack of transparency and access to relevant data. Our team designed a carbon footprint use case and identified which routes needed to be improved while estimating how many trees need to be planted to mitigate their emissions. Celonis can improve daily operations with the use of our solutions to reach a company’s sustainability goals.”
“After learning about Process Mining through the Celonis Academic Alliance, I helped organize an E-Learning Club for students who wanted to upskill in the field. What excites me most is how Process Mining opens so many doors within businesses. I love learning about leveraging technology for more sustainable business outcomes.”

From Bertram Lutz, the Head of Solution Engineering, UK and Ireland
At the early onset of the global pandemic, my team and I kept hearing the same thing from our customers: “We are struggling to function as a business right now. Our supply chain is in upheaval.” I thought - this is not just affecting Celonis but majorly impacting our customers.
But we can help with our technology. That night, putting my solution engineering skills into play and using our demo environment, I built an analysis that speaks to the problems our customers are having - drilling down on supply chain reliability. The next day, I shared the recorded demo with my team, a handful of BDRs, sales reps, and solution engineers, and it went viral internally.
In less than a week, an entire team of Celonauts came together to design apps, build additional use cases and demos, and create useful content to launch our COVID-19 Customer Care Program. We rolled out three free apps for our customers and non-profits focused on what’s most critical - Cash Preservation and Supply Chain Reliability. Our response to COVID-19 was an opportunity to leverage our technology for good in a time businesses need it most.
At Celonis, our mission is to build sustainable momentum in three key areas:
We leverage our technology for good and create impact through innovative solutions that help our customers and our ecosystem achieve more outcomes from less resources.
Through our education programs we democratize skills and create opportunities that strengthen the next generation and global communities as we strive toward a better future.
Our Celonis Team is a diverse and inclusive workforce dedicated to campaigning sustainability and living our values every day.

We believe in educating our youth as the next generation thought leaders in data and process science. We launched the Celonis Academic Alliance in partnership with the world’s leading universities and schools to empower and encourage the process miners of tomorrow. Here, we facilitate learning and experiencing the power of Process Mining across the globe.
We are building bridges through education — offering free software access and a variety of learning and teaching materials like case studies, e-learning certificates, guest lectures, and workshops. To date, we have over 30,000 academic users, we partner with 200 universities, and have supported over 600 classes.
We believe in equal opportunities and in the power of education to pursue one's dreams. And equal education starts with equal access. We want to combat educational inequality by removing financial barriers and turning educational dreams into real opportunities.
We Focus. We Invent. We Simplify. We Act. FISA is our set of operating principles that applies to all our values, allowing us to understand and execute them.
“FISA is about finding the right solution to the right problem at the right time. It’s about taking action. Whatever that right solution is will continue to change, so all of us Celonauts live FISA every day as we roll with these changes.”
“Building our Development Center of Excellence in Pristina exemplifies FISA in action. In two years, what started as an idea to engage more talent from my home country turned into ramping up an office of 56 people.”
“FISA is a work style everyone can learn. In my role, I constantly strive to strike the right balance between analytical thinking, creativity, and taking action. When I first focus on the outcome, it’s easier to prioritize what comes next. Thinking creatively, I approach problems through a unique, non-linear lens. To me, simplicity is the key to really efficient solutions. Most importantly, I take action. Because, you can ideate all day, but nothing happens until something moves.”
Hear from Martin Klenk, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, about how applying FISA helps us thrive as our organization scales.
From Bardh Lohaj, Engineering Lead, Applications and Development Center of Excellence in Pristina
Our biggest motivation to pivot from on-prem to the Cloud was to boost productivity and efficiency. While on-prem has countless execution gaps, the Cloud allows us to release biweekly updates and proactively monitor our software which improves our product, customer service, and brings more value to our customers. We can do everything faster - from iteration and taking in customer feedback to innovation.
We took a calculated risk and acted on it - dedicating six months to build a robust technical foundation. What takes most companies years to complete a transition this massive, we achieved in a little over 1.5 years.
We simplified everything moving forward with how apps are built. Now, we can run multiple microservices so each team can run their own service and stay in sync with their customers and their team. The Celonis EMS picked up really quickly - over 90% of customers in 2019 and 2020 adopted it. Shortly after, we won the Best SaaS in the U.S. Category in 2018-19 Cloud Award.
